Why is Kazano prescribed?

Kazano (Alogliptin and Metformin HCl) is a diabetes medication used to help manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in combination with proper diet and exercise.

What does it do?

Metformin lowers blood sugar by reducing glucose production in the liver and limiting its absorption in the intestines. Alogliptin helps control blood sugar by regulating insulin levels after meals.

How should I take it?

Take Kazano by mouth with twice a day with meals due to metformin. The starting dose based on your treatment regimen.

Be sure to follow the instructions on your prescription and read all provided medication guides or information sheets.

What if I missed a dose?

Take Kazano with food as soon as you remember, but skip the missed dose if your next dose is coming up soon. Do not take two doses at once.

What are the special precautions before taking Kazano?

Inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, your current and previous medical history.

  • Pancreatitis
  • Gallstones
  • Alcoholism
  • Kidney disease
  • Heart disease
  • Liver disease

Kazano may increase the risk of lactic acidosis, a serious condition caused by the buildup of lactic acid in the blood. This risk is higher if you have other health issues, chronic alcohol use, a severe infection, or are over 65. Talk to your doctor about your individual risk.

If you're scheduled for an X-ray or CT scan that involves an injected contrast dye, you may need to stop taking Kazano temporarily. Make sure your healthcare provider knows you are taking this medication.

Kazano may trigger ovulation in premenopausal women, which could increase the risk of unintended pregnancy. Discuss this with your doctor.

Does it have any side effects?

If you experience symptoms of pancreatitis, such as severe upper stomach pain radiating to your back, loss of appetite, or rapid heartbeats, stop taking Kazano and contact your doctor immediately.

Metformin, a component of Kazano, can lead to lactic acidosis, which may be life-threatening. Seek emergency help if you notice mild symptoms like unusual muscle pain, cold feeling, difficulty breathing, stomach pain, vomiting, or irregular heart rate.

    Common side effects may include:
  • Diarrhea
  • Upset stomach
  • Increased blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision)
  • Back pain
  • Cold-like symptoms (sinus pain, sore throat)
    Serious side effects may include:
  • Pain or burning during urination
  • Liver problems (upper stomach pain, dark urine, jaundice)
  • Heart failure symptoms (shortness of breath, leg or feet swelling)
  • Severe or persistent joint pain
This is not a complete list of side effects. For medical advice, contact your doctor.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

Do not take this medication if you are receiving certain contrast agents used for CT scans, X-rays, MRIs, or similar procedures. Kazano may also interact with many other substances, including:
  • Alcohol
  • Diuretics
  • Isoniazid
  • Niacin
  • Phenytoin
  • Glycopyrrolate, trospium
  • Acetazolamide, Dichlorphenamide, Zonisamide
  • Some antiviral drugs for HIV or hepatitis
  • Medications for blood pressure, heart conditions, or irregular heartbeats
  • Cimetidine, digoxin, dofetilide, ranolazine
  • Hormones like estrogen or progestin
  • Insulin and sulfonylureas (e.g., Glimepiride)
  • Phenothiazines (e.g., Chlorpromazine)
  • Steroids (e.g., Prednisone)
  • Stimulants for ADHD, weight loss, or alertness
  • Thyroid medications
  • Vandetanib
This is not a complete list. Always inform your healthcare provider about all prescription and over-the-counter medications, herbal supplements, and dietary products you use. Also mention if you smoke, drink alcohol as these may affect how your medication works.

How should I store it?

Store Kazano at room temperature, away from heat and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

What action should I take in case of overdose?

Seek emergency medical help as it usually occurred with over 50g of Metformin, as you may be experiencing dangerously low blood sugar.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant while taking Kazano; it is not expected to harm an unborn baby. It is not known whether Kazano passes into breast milk, so talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
