Why is Uceris prescribed?

Uceris (Budesonide) is used to manage symptoms of ulcerative colitis, such as pain and diarrhea. Although it does not cure the condition, it helps reduce inflammation as an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid medication.

What does it do?

This medication helps reduce inflammation in the digestive tract and is classified as a steroid.

How should I take it?

Take this medication by mouth as prescribed by your doctor, typically once daily in the morning, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water (8 ounces/240 milliliters), unless your doctor provides different instructions. Do not crush or chew the tablets, as this can cause the medication to be released all at once, increasing the risk of side effects.

What if I missed a dose?

Take Uceris as soon as you remember, but if it's nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take two doses at once.

What are the special precautions before taking Uceris?

Inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, your current and previous medical history and if you have any of the following conditions:
Allergies or unusual reactions to budesonide, other corticosteroids, medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives
  • Any active infections
  • Cataracts
  • Diabetes
  • Glaucoma
  • High blood pressure
  • History of stomach ulcers
  • Immune system issues
  • Liver disease
  • Osteoporosis
  • Scheduled for surgery
  • Steroids can weaken your immune system, increasing the risk of new infections or worsening existing ones. Inform your doctor if you have had any illnesses or infections in the past few weeks and can increase the risk of infection. Let your doctor know if you've been in contact with someone who has measles or chickenpox, or if you develop sores or blisters that don’t heal properly.

This medication may raise blood sugar levels. If you have diabetes, ask your doctor if adjustments to your diet or medication are necessary.

Before having any surgery or procedure, notify your doctor that you're taking this medication.

Does it have any side effects?

It is important to note that all drugs have corresponding side effects and adverse reactions.

      Serious side effects may include:
  • Allergic reactions: Skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, tongue, lips, or throat
  • Cushing syndrome: Increased fat around the abdomen, neck, upper back, or face; pink or purple stretch marks; thinning, fragile skin that bruises easily; unexpected hair growth
  • High blood sugar (hyperglycemia): Increased thirst or urination, blurry vision, unusual weakness or fatigue
  • Elevated blood pressure
  • Infections: Fever, chills, cough, sore throat, wounds that won’t heal, painful or difficult urination, feeling generally unwell
  • Low adrenal gland function: Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dizziness, unusual weakness or fatigue
  • Mood or behavior changes: Anxiety, hallucinations, irritability, hostility, nervousness, confusion, suicidal thoughts or self-harm, worsening mood, feelings of depression
  • Swelling: In the hands, ankles, or feet
  • Side effects that usually don’t require medical attention (but should be reported if persistent or bothersome):

  • Acne
  • General discomfort or fatigue
  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Weight gain
  • This list may not cover all possible side effects. Contact your doctor for advice if you experience any unusual symptoms.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

It is important to note that all drugs have corresponding side effects and adverse reactions. Additional information may be obtained when you ask your doctor or pharmacist.

    Uceris may interact with:

  • Antacids
  • Certain antibiotics, such as clarithromycin or erythromycin
  • Certain antivirals used for HIV or hepatitis
  • Medications for fungal infections, including ketoconazole, itraconazole, or posaconazole
  • Cimetidine
  • Cyclosporine
  • Grapefruit juice
  • This list may not include all possible interactions. Be sure to provide your doctor with a complete list of all medications and supplements you are using. Also, inform them if you smoke, consume alcohol as some of these may interact with your medication.

    How should I store it?

Store the medication at room temperature, between 20 and 25°C (68 and 77°F). Keep the container tightly sealed.

What action should I take in case of overdose?

If someone overdoses and experiences severe symptoms such as fainting or difficulty breathing, seek immediate medical attention or contact your doctor right away.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Uceris (Budesonide) should only be used during pregnancy if clearly necessary. Talk to your doctor about the potential risks and benefits. Prolonged use of corticosteroids during pregnancy may lead to hormone issues in the baby.

If your newborn shows symptoms such as persistent nausea or vomiting, severe diarrhea, or weakness, contact your doctor immediately and Uceris can pass into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
