Why is Vermox prescribed?

Vermox (Mebendazole) is an anti-worm medication used to treat infections caused by various types of worms, including whipworm, pinworm, roundworm, and hookworm. It is also effective for treating infections caused by multiple types of worms simultaneously.

What does it do?

Vermox is an anthelmintic medication that stops newly hatched worm larvae from growing or reproducing in the body.

How should I take it?

Take Vermox exactly as prescribed by your doctor usually 500mg per day. Do not take more or less of the medication, and do not use it for a longer period than recommended. You can swallow, chew, or crush a Vermox tablet and mix it with food.

What if I missed a dose?

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not take extra medicine to make up for the missed dose. Contact your doctor if you miss more than one dose of this medication.

What are the special precautions before taking Vermox?

Inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, your current and previous medical history and you should not use Vermox if you are allergic to Mebendazole.

Before using Vermox, inform your doctor if you have a history of:

  • Liver disease
  • Inflammatory bowel disease (such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis)
  • Kidney disease
  • Neutropenia (low white blood cell count)
  • Additionally, inform your doctor about all your medical conditions and allergies before using Vermox. Follow all instructions on your medicine label and packaging, and make sure to tell all your healthcare providers about your medical conditions, allergies, and all the medications you are currently taking..

Do not take Vermox if you are also taking metronidazole (Flagyl), as this combination may cause a serious skin reaction, including fever, blistering red or purple rashes, and skin peeling.

Does it have any side effects?

It is important to note that all drugs have corresponding side effects and adverse reactions. Seek emergency medical help if you experience signs of an allergic reaction to Vermox.
      Common side effects may include:
  • Diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain
  • Decreased appetite
  • Rash
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you have experience:

  • Seizures or convulsions.
  • Sudden weakness, fever, chills, sore throat, mouth sores, difficulty swallowing, swollen or red gums, or easy bruising or bleeding (these could be signs of a bone marrow issue).
  • Nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, fatigue, clay-colored stools, loss of appetite, dark urine, or jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
  • A purple or red skin rash with fever, blisters, and weakness
  • This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you experience any side effects, contact your doctor for advice.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

Make sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are currently taking or have recently taken any other medications, including over-the-counter drugs, herbal remedies, dietary supplements, or vitamins.

In particular, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using:
  • Cimetidine (for excess stomach acidity)
  • Metronidazole (for certain infections)
  • Consult your doctor before using Vermox tablets if you are taking any of these medications.

    How should I store it?

Keep this medication in its original container, tightly closed, and out of the reach of children. Store it at room temperature, away from excessive heat and moisture.

What action should I take in case of overdose?

If you take too much Vermox, seek immediate medical assistance or go to the nearest emergency department. Symptoms of an overdose may include persistent stomach pain or vomiting. Hair loss, which could be permanent, may also occur.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Mebendazole should only be used during pregnancy if prescribed by a doctor. It is unclear whether this medication passes into breast milk, so consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
