Why is Alecensa prescribed?

Alecensa (Alectinib) is frequently prescribed for the treatment of specific types of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It is used to reduce the risk of NSCLC recurrence after surgery to remove the tumor and is also used to treat metastatic NSCLC, where the cancer has spread to other parts of the body.

What does it do?

Alecensa is a kinase inhibitor, a type of medication that targets specific enzymes called kinases, which help transmit signals in the body to regulate important cell functions like growth. Alecensa specifically blocks the action of anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK), which can be mutated in some lung cancers. These ALK mutations cause signals that prompt tumor cells to grow and multiply. By blocking these signals, Alecensa helps prevent the growth and spread of cancer cells, leading to a reduction in tumor size.

Why is Alecensa prescribed?

Take the capsule whole twice a day as starting dose and will be reduced based on your schedule treatment without opening, crushing, or chewing it. You can take this medicine with food and maybe adjusted if you have liver problems.

What if I missed a dose?

If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at once.

What are the special precautions before taking Alecensa (Alectinib)?

Alectinib may increase your sensitivity to sunlight, making you more prone to sunburn. During treatment and for at least 7 days after your last dose, avoid sunlight and tanning beds. When outdoors, wear protective clothing and apply sunscreen with an SPF of 50 or higher.

Do not take Alecensa if you are allergic to alectinib or any of its inactive ingredients.

Inform your doctor if you have a history of:
  • Lung or breathing issues unrelated to lung cancer
  • Liver disease
  • Slow heart rate
  • Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
