Why is Atrovent prescribed?

Atrovent (Ipratropium bromide) is an oral inhalation medication used to prevent symptoms of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (chronic bronchitis or emphysema).

What does it do?

Bronchodilators relax and facilitate the opening of the airways to prevent symptoms like chest tightness, coughing, difficulty of breathing, and wheezing and improve breathing. Ipatropium belongs to this classification of drugs and these helps improve the condition of the patients suffering from these symptoms.

How should I use it?

Atrovent is currently available as a 20mcg aerosol inhaler. Each type of inhaler has its set of instructions regarding its priming, usage, and cleaning. Make sure to follow the directions and ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.

The dosage strength and frequency depend on every patient’s condition and the doctor’s prescription. It is imperative that you do not self-medicate and only take this drug after consulting with your doctor or pharmacist to determine the best dosage and dosing schedule for the treatment of your condition.

What if I missed a dose?

The proper use of medications is needed to achieve the desired effect of any drug. As much as possible, strictly follow your doctor’s prescribed dosing schedule. If you miss a dose, take it immediately. However, if it’s close to the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and proceed with the regular dosing schedule. Never take two doses at the same time to make up for a missed dose, unless told otherwise.

What are the special precautions before taking Atrovent?

Atrovent is NOT a rescue medication for an acute asthma attack.

Do not use Atrovent inhaler near an open flame or source of heat. Observe precaution while using this medication and avoid contact with eyes. Immediately rinse your eyes and call a doctor if you get Atrovent sprayed into your eyes.

Inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, your current and previous medical history, and any allergic reactions to Atrovent or any other ingredients included in the manufacture of this medication.

Inform your doctor if you had any form of surgery or if you are planning to get one.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, Turkey, and Singapore.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
