Why is Avalide prescribed?

Irbesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide (Avalide) is prescribed for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension). It is prescribed when a single drug is not sufficient in controlling blood pressure levels. It can also be given when patients are just starting to use antihypertensive medications since they may require multiple drugs to control their blood pressure.

What does it do?

Hypertension is a medical condition wherein the force that the blood exerts on the walls of your blood vessels is too high. If it is not treated, it can lead to cardiac problems such as strokes and heart attacks.

Irbesartan is classified as an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that prevents the action of substances in the body that causes the blood vessels to tighten. This effect allows blood to flow more easily and lowers blood pressure.

Hydrochlorothiazide is classified as a diuretic and it works by excreting water and salt from the body through urine.

How should I take it?

Avalide is available in 150mg/12.5mg or 300mg/12.5mg tablets that is intended for oral administration, with or without meals. Swallow the tablet as a whole and do not crush, chew, break it in half, or tamper the tablet in any way. Take Avalide exactly as your doctor instructed and do not make alterations in the dosage or frequency.

Avalide does not treat your condition, it only controls it. The full effect of Avalide may take 4 weeks before it is evident. Always consult your doctor before you stop taking the medication.

You should incorporate a healthy diet and regular exercise in your lifestyle. This is beneficial in controlling your blood pressure.

Consult your doctor or pharmacist for any concerns you may have when taking Avalide.

What if I missed a dose?

The desired effects of prescribed medications will only be achieved if taken properly. As much as possible, strictly follow your doctor’s prescribed dosing schedule. However, if you miss a dose, take it immediately and adjust the time of your next dose depending on your doctor’s advice. Never take two doses at the same time just to make up for your missed dose.

What are the special precautions before using Avalide?

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to Irbesartan, Hydrochlorothiazide, any component of Avalide, and other medications.

Inform your doctor if you have difficulty in urinating and if you are taking a medication called Aliskiren. Taking Irbesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide may not be suitable for you in these cases and should be discussed with your doctor.

Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had kidney or liver disease, diabetes, congestive heart failure, glaucoma, high cholesterol levels, gout, lupus, asthma, and high or low potassium levels.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, Turkey, and Singapore.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
