  • Description

Why is Azilect prescribed?

Rasagiline Mesylate (Azilect) is prescribed alone or in combination with another medication to treat a progressive nervous system disorder that affects movement more commonly known as Parkinson’s disease.

What does it do?

Patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease usually experience slowing of movements, stooped posture, tremors at rest, or walking with shuffling steps. Azilect works by increasing the amounts of certain natural substances in the brain to control the symptoms associated with Parkinson’s disease. It belongs to a drug class called Monoamine Oxidase (MAO) inhibitors, specifically Type B.

How should I take it?

Azilect and its generic equivalents are currently available in 0.5mg and 1mg tablets. Each tablet should be taken as a whole (do not split) by mouth with or without food.

The dosage strength depends on every patient’s condition and the doctor’s prescription. It is imperative that you do not self-medicate and only take this drug after consulting with your doctor or pharmacist to determine the best dosage and dosing schedule for the treatment of your condition.

What if I missed a dose?

The desired effects of prescribed medications will only be achieved if taken properly. As much as possible, strictly follow your doctor’s prescribed dosing schedule. However, if you miss a dose, take it immediately and adjust the time of your next dose depending on your doctor’s advice. Never take two doses at the same time just to make up for your missed dose.

What are the special precautions before taking Azilect?

Inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, your current and previous medical history, and any allergic reactions to Azilect or any other ingredients included in the manufacture of this medication.

When taking Azilect, avoid the intake of foods with very high amounts of tyramine such as aged cheese (e.g. Stilton or blue cheese).

Inform your doctor if you had any form of surgery or if you are planning to get one.

If the symptoms do not go away or are life-threatening, immediately stop taking the medication and inform your doctor or call an ambulance for professional medical assistance.

How should I store it?

Store Azilect in a tight container in a clean environment away from excessive heat and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

What action should I take in case of overdose?

Immediately call an ambulance and seek immediate medical attention to prevent further complications or possible death.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Present data suggest that the use of Azilect in pregnant women has not established its developmental risks.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
