Why is Cipro prescribed?

Cipro (Ciprofloxacin) is prescribed to treat bacterial infections. It can also be used in combination with other medications.

What does it do?

Cipro belongs to a drug class called quinolone antibiotics or fluoroquinolones. It works by halting the growth of bacteria. It kills the bacteria by obstructing the chemicals that the bacteria need to reproduce and repair.

How should I take it?

This should only be taken with a doctor's prescription because the dosing regimen varies from patient to patient. It is normally taken twice a day (every 12 hours/morning and evening) with or without a meal. Do not stop taking the full regimen as prescribed even if the symptoms subside after a few days. Do not crush, split, or chew, it should be swallowed whole with water.

What if I missed a dose?

If a dose was missed, take it immediately upon recall. Otherwise, you may skip a dose (if almost time for the next dose or less than 6 hours to the next dose) and take the next one as per your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to replace the missed dosage.

What are the special precautions before taking Cipro?

Before taking this medication, please take note of the following precautions:
  • Avoid dairy products while taking this medication.
  • Inform your doctor of other medications that may be taken together with Cipro and any underlying condition.
  • Limit sun exposure as this may cause your skin to be sensitive and be sunburned more easily than it is normally.
  • Overuse or non-essential use of this medication may lead to diminished efficacy.
  • Does it have any side effects?

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
