Why is Duobrii Lotion prescribed?

Duobrii Lotion contains halobetasol, a highly potent steroid, and tazarotene, a compound similar to vitamin A, and is a prescription medicine used to treat plaque psoriasis, which causes raised, silvery flaking and redness of the skin in adults.

What does it do?

Duobrii contains two active ingredients: Halobetasol and Tazarotene. Halobetasol is a corticosteroid that helps reduce skin inflammation by calming the immune system and narrowing blood vessels to decrease swelling. Tazarotene is a retinoid that works by slowing down the growth of skin cells.

How should I take it?

Apply a thin layer of Duobrii to the affected areas once daily and gently rub it in, ensuring you do not use more than 50 grams in one week, avoid applying it to your groin, face, or underarms, and do not wrap, bandage, or cover the treated skin unless directed by your doctor.

What if I missed a dose?

Apply Duobrii Lotion as soon as you remember, but skip it if your next dose is near. Do not double the dose.

What are the special precautions before taking Duobrii Lotion?

Inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, your current and previous medical history.

  • Eczema
  • Liver disease
  • Any skin infection
  • Or an adrenal gland disorder.

Steroid medications like Duobrii can raise blood or urine sugar levels, so tell your doctor if you have diabetes.

Do not use Duobrii Lotion if you are pregnant, as it may harm the unborn baby or cause birth defects. Use effective birth control to prevent pregnancy while using this medicine. You may need a negative pregnancy test before starting treatment, and you should begin using Duobrii during a normal menstrual period to confirm you are not pregnant.

Stop using Duobrii and contact your doctor immediately if you become pregnant, stop using birth control, or miss a menstrual period.

Breastfeeding while using halobetasol and tazarotene may not be safe. Talk to your doctor about the risks, and avoid applying the medicine to areas that could come into contact with your baby's mouth if applied to your chest.

Does it have any side effects?

It is important to note that all drugs have corresponding side effects and adverse reactions. Additional information may be obtained when you ask your doctor or pharmacist.
    Common side effects may include:
  • Peeling skin
  • Thinning skin
  • Redness or crusting around hair follicles
  • Burning, stinging, pain, or swelling at the application site
    Serious side effects may include:
  • Blurred or tunnel vision or seeing halos around lights
  • Sunburn
  • Irritation of the treated skin
  • Symptoms of high blood sugar such as frequent urination, increased thirst, or fruity-smelling breath
  • Possible signs that the medicine is being absorbed through your skin, including weight gain (especially in the face, upper back, or torso), slow wound healing, thinning or discolored skin, increased body hair, fatigue, mood changes, or changes in menstrual or sexual function
This is not a complete list of side effects. Contact your doctor for medical advice if you experience any side effects.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

Be sure to tell your doctor if you are using any of the following before starting Duobrii:

  • Any medication that increases your skin’s sensitivity to sunlight, such as certain antibiotics, some mental health drugs, thiazide diuretics, or medications for nausea and vomiting.
  • Corticosteroids like Methylprednisolone, Dexamethasone, or prednisone, which are used to treat inflammatory conditions, asthma, or COPD.
This may not be a complete list of drugs that can interact with Duobrii, so always consult doctor.

How should I store it?

Store Duobrii at room temperature between 68°F and 77°F (20°C to 25°C) and protect it from freezing.

What action should I take in case of overdose?

If anyone accidentally swallows the medication and note that it can pass through the skin and bloodstream seek emergency medical help immediately as it can cause eye issues and high blood sugar level.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Duobrii may harm an unborn baby, so use effective birth control and start only after a negative pregnancy test. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy, and stop use if you become pregnant.

It’s unknown if Duobrii passes into breast milk. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding; avoid applying it to your nipples to protect your baby.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
