Why is Elocon prescribed?

Mometasone furoate (Elocon) cream is prescribed for the treatment of redness, itchiness, and swelling caused by several skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

What does it do?

Eczema is a condition where the skin becomes dry and extremely itchy and may develop red and inflamed patches. Psoriasis is a condition where the skin becomes itchy and it may sting or burn and it makes the skin look more inflamed. Elocon belongs to a drug class called corticosteroids and it works by stimulating the release of substances found in the skin to relieve redness, itching, and inflammation.

How should I apply it?

Elocon and its generic equivalents are currently available as a 0.1% cream which is intended to be applied externally onto the skin. Avoid getting Elocon cream into your eyes or mouth.

Wash your hands thoroughly before and after (except when you are treating a hand condition) handling the medication. Apply a small amount to the area to be treated and rub it in gently. Do not use bandages or coverings to cover the area unless instructed by your doctor.

The dosage strength depends on every patient’s condition and the doctor’s prescription. It is imperative that you do not self-medicate and only use this drug after consulting with your doctor or pharmacist to determine the best dosage and dosing schedule for the treatment of your condition.

What if I missed a dose?

The desired effects of prescribed medications will only be achieved if used properly. As much as possible, strictly follow your doctor’s prescribed dosing schedule. However, if you miss a dose, apply it immediately and adjust the time of your next dose depending on your doctor’s advice. Never apply two doses at the same time just to make up for your missed dose.

What are the special precautions before applying Elocon?

Inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, your current and previous medical history, and any allergic reactions to Elocon or any other ingredients included in the manufacture of this medication.

Do not use Elocon cream to treat diaper rash.

Do not use Elocon on a child without a doctor’s approval to prevent the occurrence of side effects.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, Turkey, and Singapore.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
