Why is Ibrance prescribed?

Ibrance is a prescription medication used to treat advanced or metastatic breast cancer in adults. It is specifically indicated for cancers that are hormone receptor-positive (where growth is stimulated by estrogen, progesterone, or both) and HER2-negative (where cancer cells do not have high levels of the HER2 protein). Ibrance is used alongside certain hormone therapies, which work to inhibit estrogen and prevent cancer cell growth and proliferation.

What does it do?

Palbociclib is used to treat advanced or metastatic breast cancer that is hormone receptor-positive (HR-positive) and HER2-negative under drug class Kinase Inhibitor. It is prescribed either in combination with an aromatase inhibitor, such as letrozole, as an initial hormonal treatment or with fulvestrant for patients whose disease has progressed after previous hormonal therapy. Palbociclib is classified as an anti-neoplastic medication.

This drug works by disrupting the growth of cancer cells, leading to their eventual destruction. However, it can also impact the growth of normal cells, potentially causing unwanted side effects. Some of these side effects may be serious and should be reported to your doctor.

How should I use it?

Ibrance (Palbociclib) is taken by mouth as prescribed, usually once daily for 21 days, the break for a 7 days, this constitutes 28 days treatment cycle. All directions using the medication are as directed by your doctor.

Palbociclib is available in capsule or tablet form. Take capsules with food, but the tablets can be taken with or without food. Swallow them whole without crushing, chewing, opening, or splitting them.

Do not use capsules or tablets that are broken or damaged. If you vomit after taking a dose, skip that dose and resume your regular schedule the next day.

Your dosage is determined by your medical condition, lab results specially, a complete blood count, which is needed before and every after cycle, treatment response, and any other medications you are using.

What if I missed a dose?

If you miss a dose, skip it and take your next dose at the usual time the following day. Do not take two doses at once to make up for the missed one.

What are the special precautions before taking Ibrance?

Before starting Palbociclib, inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it or have any other allergies, as the medication might contain inactive ingredients that could trigger allergic reactions or other issues. Consult your pharmacist for more information. Also, share your medical history with your doctor or pharmacist, particularly if you have liver or kidney disease.

Palbociclib may increase your risk of infections or worsen existing infections. Avoid contact with people who have easily transmissible infections. Consult your doctor if you have been exposed to an infection or need more information. Notify your healthcare provider that you are taking palbociclib before getting any vaccinations or immunizations.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
