Why is Manerix prescribed?

Manerix contains the active ingredient moclobemide, which is part of a group of medicines known as antidepressants. It is used to treat depression and social anxiety disorder (social phobia).

What does it do?

Manerix helps relieve depression and social phobia by boosting the levels of key chemical messengers in the brain. This increase can improve mood and reduce symptoms.

How should I take it?

Take Manerix at the end of a meal, swallowing each tablet with a glass of water with a usual dose of 300mg daily or in divided doses. Always follow your doctor’s instructions exactly regarding the prescribed dosage.

What if I missed a dose?

If you miss a dose of Manerix, take it as soon as you can. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule.

What are the special precautions before taking Manerix?

Inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, your current and previous medical history.

Do not take Manerix if:

  • You are using pethidine for pain relief
  • You are taking selegiline to treat Parkinson’s disease
  • You are taking dextromethorphan, commonly found in cough
  • You have a tumor on your adrenal gland (Phaeochromocytoma).
  • You have a serious mental health condition that causes loss of contact with reality, confusion, or difficulty thinking clearly.
  • You are currently taking, or have recently stopped taking, other antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications such as Paroxetine, Fluoxetine, or Clomipramine

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Manerix if:

  • You have an overactive thyroid
  • You have severe liver disease
  • You have bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression)
  • You have ever had thoughts of self-harm or suicide
  • You need pain relief with Buprenorphine, as combining it with Manerix can increase the risk of serotonin syndrome—a potentially life-threatening condition

If any of these conditions apply to you, or if you're uncertain, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Manerix.

Does it have any side effects?

It is important to note that all drugs have corresponding side effects and adverse reactions. Additional information may be obtained when you ask your doctor or pharmacist.

    Common side effects may include:
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Feeling anxious, nervous, restless, or irritable
  • Tingling or numbness in the hands or feet
  • Low blood pressure (hypotension)
    Serious side effects may include:
  • An itchy, raised skin rash (hives), or skin flushing
  • Swelling of the throat, face or mouth, which may cause difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Sudden swelling of the feet, hands, or ankles
If you notice any side effects, including those not listed here, speak with your doctor/pharmacist.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are currently taking, have recently taken, or plan to take any other medications.

Do not take Manerix and notify your doctor if you are using any of the following:

  • Buprenorphine
  • Tramadol (for pain relief)
  • Linezolid (an antibiotic)
  • Pethidine (a pain reliever)
  • Triptans (used for migraines)
  • Dextromethorphan (commonly found in cough medicines)
  • Selegiline (used to treat Parkinson’s disease)
  • St John’s Wort (an herbal remedy for anxiety or depression)
  • Other antidepressants or anxiety medications, such as Bupropion, Fluoxetine, or Clomipramine
Also, let your doctor or pharmacist know if you are taking any of the following:
  • Cimetidine (used for ulcers and acid reflux)
  • Ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, or phenylpropanolamine (found in many cold and flu remedies)
  • Morphine, codeine, or fentanyl (used for pain management)
Avoid consuming large amounts of foods high in tyramine while taking Manerix. These foods can interact with Manerix and may cause unwanted side effects. These include:
  • Aged or mature cheeses
  • Fermented soy products
  • Yeast extracts
This document does not contain a complete list of all medications. For more detailed information, please consult your doctor before taking Manerix.

How should I store it?

Store the medication in a tightly closed container at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Do not freeze.

What action should I take in case of overdose?

If you suspect an overdose of Manerix, seek emergency medical help immediately and if mixed with antidepressants.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Do not take Manerix if you are planning to become pregnant, pregnant, or breastfeeding, unless your doctor has specifically advised you to do so.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
