Why is Maxzide prescribed?

Maxzide (a combination of Triamterene and Hydrochlorothiazide) is a medication that includes a potassium-sparing diuretic and a natriuretic agent. It is prescribed to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and fluid retention (edema). Maxzide is especially useful for patients who need a diuretic but are at risk of low potassium levels. It can be used on its own or with other blood pressure medications, such as beta-blockers; however, dosage adjustments may be necessary.

What does it do?

Triamterene/Hydrochlorothiazide helps lower blood pressure and reduce fluid buildup by increasing urination. It works by helping the kidneys eliminate excess sodium and water, which can lower blood volume and pressure. Additionally, it improves blood flow by reducing resistance in the blood vessels. The triamterene component helps retain potassium in the body, preventing the low potassium levels that can result from hydrochlorothiazide alone.

How should I take it?

Take Maxzide orally as prescribed on your label, at the same time every day. You may take it with or without food; however, if it causes stomach discomfort, take it with food. Continue using it as prescribed unless your doctor tells you to stop.

What if I missed a dose?

If you miss taking Maxzide, take it promptly when you remember. If it’s nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take only your next scheduled one. Do not take extra doses.

What are the special precautions before taking Maxzide?

While taking this medication, you might need a special diet and should ask your care team about how much fluid to drink daily to avoid dehydration.

You may experience drowsiness or dizziness, so avoid driving, operating machinery, or activities requiring alertness until you know how it affects you. Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
