Why is Nexletol prescribed?

Nexletol (Bempedoic acid) is an oral medication used to lower LDL “bad cholesterol” levels in adults with high cholesterol that cannot recommend statin therapy. It may also help reduce the risk of heart attacks and other cardiovascular problems in individuals with heart disease or those at high risk.

What does it do?

Nexletol works by inhibiting an enzyme in the liver called ACL, which plays a role in cholesterol production. By blocking this enzyme, Nexletol helps reduce cholesterol levels. It also helps lower the risk of heart attack and the need for procedures to open blocked arteries and improve blood flow to the heart in adults at risk for heart disease who are not taking statins.

How should I take it?

Take this medication once daily as directed by your doctor. You can take it with or without food, following the prescribed dosage.

What if I missed a dose?

If you miss a dose, take Nexletol as soon as you remember but if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at the same time.

What are the special precautions before taking Nexletol?

Before taking Nexletol, consult your doctor, as its safety and effectiveness have not been established in the following:
  • Individuals with severe liver problems.
  • Severe kidney issues, including individuals with end-stage kidney disease who are undergoing dialysis.
  • Do not take Nexletol if you are allergic to bempedoic acid or any of the inactive ingredients in the medication. If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, stop taking Nexletol immediately and contact your doctor or go to the nearest emergency room. Symptoms may include:
  • Swelling of your face, tongue, or mouth
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Severe itching
  • Dizziness or fainting
  • Skin rashes
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Before starting Nexletol, inform your doctor about all your medical conditions, including if you have:
  • Gout
  • Kidney issues
  • Have or had tendon issues
  • Have severe liver issues
  • Does it have any side effects?

These side effects may improve as your body adjusts to the medication. However, if they persist or worsen, contact your doctor right away.
      Common side effects may include:
  • Anemia or low blood cell count
  • Back or stomach pain
  • Gallstones
  • Gout
  • Muscle spasms
  • High uric acid levels
  • Kidney problems
  • High liver enzyme levels
    • Serious side effects may include:

Nexletol may cause severe allergic reactions. If you experience any of the following signs of a serious allergic reaction, stop taking Nexletol and seek immediate medical attention.

      • Breathing problems or wheezing
      • Fever
      • Hives
      • Racing heart
      • Swollen lymph nodes
      • Swelling of the face, mouth, tongue, or throat
      • Difficulty in swallowing or throat tightness
      • Tendon Problems - Nexletol may raise the risk of tendon rupture or injury. If you hear or feel a snap, notice bruising immediately after an injury, or are unable to move or bear weight on a limb, stop taking Nexletol, rest the affected area, and seek medical attention right away.

Increased Uric Acid Level or Hyperuricemia - Nexletol may raise your blood uric acid levels, which can occur within the first 4 weeks of treatment and may continue throughout your use of the medication. Elevated uric acid levels can lead to gout.

Other side effects of Nexletol may occur that are not mentioned here. If you believe you are experiencing a side effect, contact your doctor.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

        How should I store it?

Store Nexletol in its original packaging at room temperature, between 20ºC and 25ºC. Do not discard the packet containing the desiccant, as it helps keep the medication dry.

What action should I take in case of overdose?

If you take more Nexletol than prescribed, contact your doctor or go to the nearest emergency room immediately.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
