Why is Teveten prescribed?

Teveten is prescribed to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). By lowering blood pressure, it helps reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems.

What does it do?

Teveten is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a substance that tightens blood vessels, leading to relaxation of the vessels, reduced blood pressure, and improved blood flow.

How should I take it?

Always follow your doctor’s instructions or the directions on the product label when taking this medication. Teveten is typically started at 600 mg orally once daily, with or without food, as monotherapy in patients who are adequately hydrated.

The maintenance dose ranges from 400 to 800 mg per day, given in one or two divided doses. Since it may take 2 to 3 weeks to achieve maximum blood pressure reduction, dosage adjustments should be guided by patient response. If once-daily dosing does not provide adequate control at trough levels, twice-daily dosing or a dose increase may be considered. However, clinical experience with daily doses above 800 mg is limited.

What if I missed a dose?

If you miss a dose of Teveten, take it as soon as you remember. However, if your next scheduled dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and proceed with your usual dosing routine. Do not take extra or double doses to make up for the missed dose.

What are the special precautions before taking Teveten?

Do not take Teveten if you're allergic to Eprosartan Mesylate or any of the ingredients in the medication.

Disclose all your current or past medical conditions to your doctor, particularly if you have:

  • Kidney disease
  • Liver disease
  • High potassium levels in the blood
  • Heart problems

This medication may cause dizziness, so avoid driving, operating machinery, or performing tasks that require alertness until you’re sure you can do so safely.

Does it have any side effects?

It is important to note that all drugs have corresponding side effects and adverse reactions. Additional information may be obtained when you ask your doctor or pharmacist.
    Common side effects may include:
  • Blurred vision
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Stuffy nose
    Serious side effects may include:
  • Severe dizziness or fainting
  • Sudden vision loss
  • Swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat
  • Slow or irregular heartbeat
This is not a complete list of potential side effects, and additional reactions may occur. For detailed information and medical guidance, consult your healthcare provider.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

Teveten (Eprosartan Mesylate) can interact with various medications, so it's important to check for potential interactions before taking it with another drug. Some interactions may increase side effects or reduce effectiveness.

Before taking Teveten, consult your doctor if you are using any of the following medications:

  • NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)
  • Diuretics
  • Lithium
  • Other blood pressure medications
This is not a complete list of all the potential drug interactions, always consult your doctor or pharmacist before combining Teveten with other medications to ensure safety.

How should I store it?

Teveten should be kept in its original container and stored at room temperature, ideally between 20°C and 25°C (68°F to 77°F), to maintain its effectiveness.

What action should I take in case of overdose?

If you suspect an overdose of Teveten (Eprosartan Mesylate), it's important to act quickly and seek immediate medical attention. Contact emergency services or go to the nearest hospital. Overdose symptoms may include severe dizziness or fainting, very low blood pressure, extreme fatigue, seizures or loss of consciousness.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Teveten (Eprosartan Mesylate) is not considered safe for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and alternative treatments are generally recommended. During pregnancy, Teveten is classified as FDA Pregnancy Category D, which means that it can interfere with the renin-angiotensin system, potentially causing serious harm to the fetus. If pregnancy is detected, the medication should be stopped immediately.

While it's unknown if eprosartan passes into human breast milk, it has been detected in animals, and its potential effects on nursing infants, including impacts on kidney function or blood pressure, are not well understood.

If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, consult your healthcare provider for guidance on its use to ensure safety for both you and your baby.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
