Why is Zofran prescribed?

Zofran (Ondansetron) is used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery. It works by blocking certain substances in the body that can trigger nausea and vomiting. This medication is part of a group of drugs known as anti emetics.

What does it do?

Zofran works by blocking the 5-HT3 receptor in the gut and brain, which is responsible for causing nausea and vomiting when the body is exposed to substances like chemotherapy, anesthesia, surgery, or radiation. This helps reduce nausea and vomiting associated with these treatments.

How should I take it?

Take the regular tablet with a full glass of water. Zofran can be taken either with or without food.

The first dose is typically taken before the start of your surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation treatment. Be sure to follow your doctor's dosing instructions precisely.

To take the oral disintegrating tablet (Zofran ODT), leave it in its blister pack until you're ready to use it. Allow it to dissolve without chewing, and swallow several times as it dissolves.

What if I missed a dose?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it's nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take only the scheduled one. Do not take two doses at once.

What are the special precautions before taking Zofran?

You should not use Zofran if:

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
