Why is Zolinza prescribed?

Zolinza (Vorinostat) is approved for treating skin symptoms in patients with cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) whose disease is progressive, persistent, or has returned after at least two prior systemic treatments.

What does it do?

Zolinza works by altering gene activity, stopping cancer cell growth, and triggering cell death.

How should I take it?

Take with food and drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration. The usual dose is 400mg once daily. Swallow capsules whole—do not chew or open them. If the contents touch your skin or eyes, rinse immediately and call your doctor.

What if I missed a dose?

If you miss a dose of Zolinza, take it as soon as you remember unless it’s nearly time for your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose. Do not take two doses at the same time.

What are the special precautions before taking Zolinza?

Inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, your current and previous medical history. To ensure Zolinza is safe for you, inform your doctor if you have:
  • Liver disease
  • A history of blood clots
  • Diabetes or high blood sugar
  • An electrolyte imbalance (such as low potassium or magnesium levels)

Vorinostat can cause harm to an unborn baby if either the mother or father is taking this medication.

If you are a woman, do not use Zolinza if you are pregnant. Use effective contraception to prevent pregnancy during treatment and for at least 6 months after your final dose.

If you are a man, use effective contraception if your partner can become pregnant. Continue using birth control for at least 3 months after your last dose.

Does it have any side effects?

It is important to note that all drugs have corresponding side effects and adverse reactions. Additional information may be obtained when you ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following serious side effects:
    Serious side effects may include:
  • Chest pain

  • Decreased or unusual changes in urination
  • Allergic reactions such as itching, hives, rash, or swelling of the face or tongue
  • Pain, swelling, or warmth in the leg (possible signs of a blood clot)
Less serious side effects that typically do not require immediate medical attention (but let your doctor know if they persist):
  • Dry mouth
  • Headache
  • Muscle aches
  • Altered sense of taste
  • Constipation or diarrhea
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Upset stomach

This is not a complete list of all possible side effects. Contact your doctor for medical advice about any side effects you experience.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

Some drug interactions may cause serious or life-threatening reactions when administered together. Immediately inform your doctor if you are taking Zolinza with any of the following medications:

  • Cisapride
  • Dronedarone
  • Pimozide
  • Thioridazine
Zolinza may also interact with other medications, including:
  • Drugs used to treat irregular heart rhythms
  • Anesthetics or sedatives used during surgery
  • Medications for nausea or vomiting, including Dolasetron
  • Other cancer treatments like Dasatinib and Lapatinib
  • Valproic acid
This is not a complete list of possible drug interactions. Be sure to provide your doctor with a full list of all medications.

How should I store it?

Store at room temperature between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F).

What action should I take in case of overdose?

There is no noted data regarding over dosage, call emergency services immediately as needed.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Pregnant: Zolinza can cause harm to an unborn baby, so it should not be used by pregnant women. Women taking Zolinza need to use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 6 months after their final dose. Men whose partners can become pregnant should also use effective birth control during treatment and for 3 months following the end of therapy. Breastfeeding: It is advised to avoid breastfeeding during treatment with Zolinza and for at least one week after the final dose.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
