  • Description

NOTE: Depending on the supplier/strength selected, the products shipped may have different packaging.

Why is Zyvox prescribed?

Zyvox (Linezolid) is an oxazolidinone antibiotic and also acts as a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor; it is used to treat various bacterial infections, including skin infections, pneumonia, and infections resistant to other antibiotics.

What does it do?

Zyvox (Linezolid) works by preventing certain bacteria from growing by blocking their ability to produce proteins.

How should I take it?

Zyvox tablets can be taken with or without food and are typically taken every 12 hours (twice daily) for a duration of 10 to 28 days. Be sure to follow the instructions on your prescription label closely, and consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions. Take linezolid exactly as prescribed.

What if I missed a dose?

Use Zyvox as soon as possible, but if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed one. Do not take two doses at once.

What are the special precautions before taking Zyvox?

Do not use linezolid if you have taken a Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor (MAOI) in the last 14 days, as this can cause a dangerous drug interaction. MAOIs include Phenelzine, Tranylcypromine, Isocarboxazid, Methylene blue injection, and others.

Inform your doctor if you are taking stimulant medications, opioids, herbal products, or medicines for Parkinson’s disease, migraines, serious infections, depression, mental illness, or to prevent nausea and vomiting. These could interact with Linezolid and lead to serotonin syndrome, a serious condition.

To ensure linezolid is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have any of the following health conditions:
  • Diabetes
  • Thyroid disorders
  • Carcinoid tumor
  • High blood pressure
  • Kidney or liver disease
  • Pheochromocytoma (adrenal gland tumor)
  • Bone marrow suppression or a weakened immune system
  • Seizures
While taking Linezolid, avoid foods high in tyramine, as they can cause dangerously high blood pressure. Foods to avoid include:
  • Aged cheeses and meats
  • Pickled, fermented, smoked, or air-dried meats
  • Sauerkraut
  • Soy sauce
Familiarize yourself with the list of foods to avoid during treatment with Zyvox to prevent serious side effects.

Does it have any side effects?

It is important to note that all drugs have corresponding side effects and adverse reactions. Additional information may be obtained when you ask your doctor or pharmacist.

    Serious side effects may include:
  • Seizures
  • Vision problems or changes in color vision
  • Severe abdominal pain or diarrhea that is watery or bloody
  • Excessive sweating, shakiness, or feelings of anxiety (possible signs of low blood sugar)
  • Signs of serotonin syndrome, including: agitation, hallucinations, fever, sweating, shivering, rapid heartbeat, muscle stiffness, twitching, loss of coordination, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Symptoms of lactic acidosis, such as unusual muscle pain, difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, vomiting, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, feeling very weak or cold
  • Signs of low blood cell counts, including: mouth or skin sores, fever, chills, confusion, easy bruising or bleeding, light-headedness, or shortness of breath
  • Seek emergency care immediately if you show signs of serotonin syndrome.
    Common side effects may include:
  • Anemia (low red blood cell count)
  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Skin rash
  • Headache or dizziness
This is not a complete list of side effects. Contact your doctor for medical advice if you notice any other symptoms or if side effects persist or worsen.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

Before taking Linezolid, be sure to inform your doctor if you are using any of the following:
  • Medications for diabetes
  • Buspirone, a medication for anxiety
  • Cold remedies or decongestants that contain pseudoephedrine
  • Opioids like morphine or meperidine, which are used to manage pain
  • Tricyclic antidepressants or bupropion, even if used for conditions other than depression
  • Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), which are commonly prescribed for anxiety and depression
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) taken within the past 2 weeks, often used for depression or Parkinson’s disease
  • Triptans, such as Eletriptan (Relpax), Sumatriptan (Imitrex), and others, which are used to treat migraines
Always inform your healthcare provider about all prescription drugs and any supplements you are currently taking.

How should I store it?

Store all forms of Zyvox at room temperature, keeping them away from moisture, heat, and light. Do not freeze the medication. Discard any unused liquid after 21 days.

What action should I take in case of overdose

In the event of overdose cases of Linezolid. Get emergency medical help needed.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Pregnancy: It’s unclear whether linezolid can affect pregnancy or harm an unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, so they can determine if Linezolid is appropriate for you.

Breastfeeding: Linezolid can pass into breast milk. Let your doctor know if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. If you use Linezolid while nursing, watch your baby for signs of side effects like diarrhea or vomiting.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
