Why is Clobex prescribed?

Clobex (Clobetasol) for topical use is used to treat inflammation and itching associated with plaque psoriasis or other skin conditions that respond to steroid treatment.

What does it do?

Clobex helps reduce swelling, itching, and redness associated with this condition. It is a very potent (super-high-potency) corticosteroid.

How should I take it?

Follow all instructions on your prescription label as it comes with different types like shampoo and spray. Always follow any medication guides or instructions provided by your doctor. Put on or spray a small amount to the affected areas 2 times daily initially for 2 weeks and might extend your treatment for an additional 2 weeks if needed.

What if I missed a dose?

Apply Clobex as soon as you remember, but if it's nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not apply two doses at once.

What are the special precautions before taking Clobex?

You should not use Clobex if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have ever had:
  • An adrenal gland disorder
  • Any type of skin infection
  • A skin reaction to any steroid medication
  • Diabetes
  • Liver disease

Clobex is not approved for use by individuals under 12 years old. Some versions of this medication are only approved for adults.

Does it have any side effects?

It is important to note that all drugs have corresponding side effects and adverse reactions. Additional information may be obtained when you ask your doctor or pharmacist.
    Common side effects may include:
  • Acne
  • Burning, itching, swelling, or irritation of treated skin
  • Dry or cracked skin
  • Spider veins
  • Rash or hives
  • Redness or crusting around hair follicles
  • Stretch marks, thinning skin
  • Temporary hair loss
    Serious side effects may include:
  • Blurred vision, eye pain, tunnel vision, or seeing halos around lights
  • High blood sugar, indicated by increased thirst, dry mouth, frequent urination, or fruity-smelling breath
  • Possible signs of Clobex absorption through the skin, such as weight gain in the face and shoulders, increased body hair, fatigue, mood changes, menstrual irregularities, slow wound healing, skin discoloration, thinning skin, or sexual changes
  • Redness, oozing, warmth, swelling, or severe irritation on the treated skin
  • Worsening of your skin condition
This is not a complete list of side effects, and others may occur. Contact your doctor for advice if you experience any side effects.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

Topical medications are unlikely to be affected by other drugs you take. However, many medications can interact with one another. Inform all your healthcare providers about all the medicines you are taking.
  • Corticosteroids
  • Desmopressin
  • This may not be a complete list of all possible interactions. Ask your healthcare provider if Clobex could interact with any other medications you are taking.

    How should I store it?

Store at room temperature, away from heat and open flames. Do not puncture the bottle. Avoid freezing or refrigerating the medication. Keep all medications out of reach of children and pets.

What action should I take in case of overdose?

If someone accidentally swallows the medication, seek emergency medical attention immediately.

Prolonged use or high doses of Clobex can cause easy bruising, skin thinning, changes in body fat (particularly in the neck, back, face, and waist), increased acne or facial hair, menstrual irregularities, impotence, or a decrease in sexual interest.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Clobex should only be used during pregnancy if prescribed by your doctor. It is unclear whether this medication passes into breast milk when applied topically. Similar drugs do pass into breast milk when taken orally. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
