Why is Delstrigo prescribed?

Delstrigo is a combination of Doravirine, Lamivudine, and Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate. These antiviral medications work to prevent the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1), the virus responsible for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), from reproducing in your body. Delstrigo is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.

What does it do?

This combination medication is used alone to help manage HIV infection. It works by reducing the amount of HIV in your body, allowing your immune system to function more effectively. As a result, it lowers the risk of HIV-related complications (such as new infections or cancer) and enhances your quality of life.

How should I take it?

Take Delstrigo orally, with or without food, as directed by your doctor, typically once a day.

What if I missed a dose?

Take the medicine as soon as possible, but skip the missed dose if it’s nearly time for your next one. Do not double dose. Skipping doses can increase the risk of the virus becoming resistant to the medication.

What are the special precautions before taking Delstrigo ?

Many medications can interact and cause harmful effects, so some drugs should not be taken with Delstrigo. If you have used any of the following medications in the past 4 weeks, your doctor may adjust your treatment plan:
  • Enzalutamide
  • Mitotane
  • Rifampin
  • Rifapentine
  • St. John's wort
  • Seizure medications, such as Carbamazepine, Phenytoin, or Oxcarbazepine
To ensure Delstrigo is safe for you, inform your doctor if you have ever had:
  • Bone issues (such as fractures or osteoporosis)
  • Hepatitis B
  • Kidney disease
While using Delstrigo, you may be at a higher risk for bone fractures. Talk to your doctor about ways to maintain healthy bones.

Does it have any side effects?

It is important to note that all drugs have corresponding side effects and adverse reactions. Additional information may be obtained when you ask your doctor or pharmacist.
    Common side effects may include:
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
Seek emergency medical help if you experience signs of an allergic reaction to Delstrigo, such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of your face or throat. Contact your doctor immediately if you notice:
  • Increased or decreased urination
  • Increased thirst
  • New or worsening bone pain
  • Muscle pain or weakness
  • Pain in your arms, legs, or hands
Since Doravirine, Lamivudine, and Tenofovir affect your immune system, they may cause certain side effects, even weeks or months after taking the medication. Inform your doctor if you experience:
  • Symptoms of a new infection, such as fever, swollen glands, cold sores, cough, diarrhea, or weight loss
  • Difficulty speaking or swallowing, balance issues, or unusual sensations like weakness or tingling
  • Swelling in your neck or throat (enlarged thyroid), changes in your menstrual cycle, or impotence
This is not a full list of potential side effects, and others may occur. Contact your doctor for medical advice regarding any side effects.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

Delstrigo can cause kidney damage, particularly if you are also taking certain medications for infections, cancer, osteoporosis, organ transplant rejection, bowel disorders, high blood pressure, or pain and arthritis (such as Motrin, Advil, or Aleve).

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are planning to take or taking the following (possible drug interaction may occur if they are taken together):

  • Carbamazepine
  • Enzalutamide
  • Oxcarbazepine
  • Phenobarbital
  • Rifapentine
  • Rifabutin
  • This is not a comprehensive list. Other medications, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements, may interact with Delstrigo. Not all potential drug interactions are listed here.

    How should I store it?

Store Delstrigo tablets at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep the tablets in their original container, along with the moisture-absorbing packet or canister. Do not transfer the tablets into a daily pill box.

What action should I take in case of overdose?

If you have taken too much Delstrigo, contact your doctor or go to the nearest emergency room immediately.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Before using Delstrigo, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, as its effects on a fetus are not known. A pregnancy exposure registry exists to track outcomes in individuals exposed to Delstrigo during pregnancy. It is unclear whether Delstrigo passes into breast milk, but breastfeeding is not recommended while using Delstrigo due to the potential risk of HIV transmission.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
