Why is Diclegis prescribed?

Diclegis (Doxylamine/Pyridoxine) is used to treat morning sickness (nausea and vomiting during pregnancy) when non-medication remedies have not been effective enough.

What does it do?

Doxylamine works by blocking the action of certain natural substances in the body that can trigger nausea and vomiting. Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) is included because a deficiency of Vitamin B6 may contribute to nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.

How should I take it?

Take two tablets of Diclegis (Doxylamine/ Pyridoxine) on an empty stomach at night. Taking it right after eating may slow down the medication's effectiveness. Swallow the tablets whole.

Do not crush, chew, or break them before swallowing, as this may affect the duration of the medication’s effectiveness in your system. Incase your symptoms does not improve on the second day take 1 tablet in the morning and 2 at night. Please note that the maximum dose is 4 tablets a day.

What if I missed a dose?

If you miss a dose of this medication, take it as soon as you can. If it is close to the time for your next dose, however, skip the missed dose and continue with your usual dosing schedule. Do not double dose.

What are the special precautions before taking Diclegis?

Do not use Diclegis if you have taken an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days, as a serious drug interaction may occur. MAO inhibitors include methylene blue injection, rasagiline, tranylcypromine, and others.

Inform your doctor if you have a history of:
  • Asthma or other breathing disorders
  • Glaucoma or increased eye pressure
  • Blockages in your digestive tract (stomach or intestines)
  • Bladder obstruction or other urinary issues
  • Stomach ulcers

Avoid driving or engaging in dangerous activities until you understand how this medication affects you, as it may impair your reactions and Diclegis is not approved for individuals under 18 years old.

Does it have any side effects?

It is important to note that all drugs have corresponding side effects and adverse reactions. Additional information may be obtained when you ask your doctor or pharmacist.
    Common side effects may include:
  • Abdominal pain
  • Drowsiness
  • Diarrhea
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
This is not a complete list of side effects, and others may occur. Contact your doctor for advice regarding any side effects.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
