Why is Oruvail prescribed?

Oruvail contains ketoprofen, a medication that belongs to a group of drugs known as Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs). It works by inhibiting the chemicals in your body that typically cause inflammation.

What does it do?

Oruvail is used to treat swelling, pain, redness, and stiffness in your joints or muscles associated with the following conditions:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis (joint inflammation)
  • Lower back pain
  • Osteoarthritis (damage to the cartilage between your bones)
  • Pain related to spine issues (such as ankylosing spondylitis)
  • Sprains and strains
  • Menstrual pain
  • Gout
  • Pain and inflammation following surgery
  • Other painful inflammatory conditions affecting joints, tendons, nerves, or muscles
  • How should I take it?

Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Please note that your dose will be different based on your diagnosis and will also consider the drug form whether enteric or sustained release capsule/tablets. Do not take more than directed, use it more frequently, or continue using it longer than recommended. To help reduce stomach discomfort, you may take this medicine with food, milk, or an antacid, unless your doctor advises otherwise.

What if I missed a dose?

If you forget to take Oruvail, take it as soon as you remember. Do not take two doses at once to make up for the missed dose.

What are the special precautions before taking Oruvail?

Inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, your current and previous medical history.

    Do not take Oruvail if:
  • You are allergic to ketoprofen, aspirin, or any other Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) such as indomethacin, ibuprofen or if you are allergic to any of the other ingredients in Oruvail.
  • You have a history of ulcers or bleeding in your stomach or intestines (gut).
  • You have significant liver or kidney problems.
  • You have severe heart conditions.
  • You bruise easily and experience prolonged bleeding.
  • Before taking Oruvail, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have the following conditions:
  • Asthma
  • Ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease
  • Heart problems or history of stroke
  • You have a condition affecting your skin, joints, or kidneys known as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)
  • You are undergoing or have had heart bypass surgery
  • You are planning to become pregnant or are having difficulty conceiving, as Oruvail may make it harder to get pregnant
  • Medications like Oruvail may carry a small increased risk of heart attack or stroke. The risk is higher with higher doses and prolonged treatment. Always follow the recommended dosage and treatment duration.

Does it have any side effects?

Like all medications, Oruvail capsules can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them.
  • You may be at a higher risk of infections than usual, which could be due to a serious blood condition known as leucopenia.
  • Nosebleeds, bleeding gums, chills, fatigue, pale skin (often with a yellowish hue), and shortness of breath.
  • If you experience shortness of breath, extreme fatigue, and swelling in your ankles, these may be signs of heart failure.
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding.
    Common side effects may include:
  • Constipation
  • Indigestion, heartburn, and stomach pain can be alleviated by taking the medicine with food.
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Headaches, dizziness, drowsiness or sleepiness, and feeling tired or unwell.
  • This list may not include all possible side effects, and other effects could occur. For more information about side effects, consult your doctor.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or plan to take any other medications, including over-the-counter medicines and herbal supplements. This is important because Oruvail can interact with certain medications, and some medicines may also affect how Oruvail work.
  • Other Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) like aspirin or ibuprofen
  • Diuretics (water tablets)
  • Digoxin
  • Nicorandil
  • Anticoagulants
  • Thrombolytics like streptokinase, alteplase, reteplase, or tenecteplase
  • Antibiotics like ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, or ofloxacin
  • Antidepressants
  • Corticosteroids
  • Ciclosporin
  • Mifepristone (used for pregnancy termination; avoid taking Oruvail Capsules for 8-12 days after using Mifepristone)
  • Methotrexate
  • Pentoxifylline
  • Tenofovir
  • Tacrolimus
  • Probenecid
  • Zidovudine
  • Ask your doctor or pharmacist for other possible interactions not listed within this section.

    How should I store it?

Store the medicine in a tightly closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.

What action should I take in case of overdose?

If you take more Oruvail than you should, seek immediate medical attention by contacting your doctor or going to the nearest hospital emergency department.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Do not take Oruvail during the last 3 months of pregnancy, as it could harm your unborn baby. It may affect both you and your baby's blood clotting and could make labor longer or more difficult.

You should also avoid using Oruvail during the first 6 months of pregnancy unless prescribed by your doctor. If treatment is needed during this time or while trying to conceive, the lowest effective dose should be taken for the shortest time necessary.

If taken for more than a few days after 20 weeks of pregnancy, Oruvail may cause kidney problems in your unborn baby, potentially leading to reduced amniotic fluid (oligohydramnios) or narrowing of a blood vessel (ductus arteriosus) in the baby's heart. If longer treatment is required, your doctor may recommend additional monitoring.

You should not breastfeed while using Oruvail, as small amounts of the medication may pass into breast milk.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
