Why is Cibinqo prescribed?

Cibinqo (Abrocitinib) is a prescription medication used to treat moderate-to-severe eczema (atopic dermatitis) in adults and children aged 12 years and older, particularly when other treatments have not worked or when the condition is not well controlled with prescription medications, including biologics, or when those treatments cannot be tolerated.

What does it do?

Cibinqo works by targeting and blocking specific enzymes (Janus kinase) that play a role in inflammation, helping to soothe your immune system.

How should I take it?

Take Cibinqo once daily, ideally at the same time each day with initial dose of100mg. It can be taken with or without food. Do not chew, cut, or crush the tablet; it should be swallowed whole. Your doctor will monitor lab results before starting Cibinqo and throughout the course of treatment.

What if I missed a dose?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it's less than 12 hours until your next dose. If there's less than 12 hours remaining, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the usual time. Do not take two doses to make up for the missed one.

What are the special precautions before taking Cibinqo?

Inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, your current and previous medical history.

Be sure to mention the following:

Vaccines: You should not receive any live vaccines just before or while using Cibinqo. Let your healthcare provider know if you’ve recently had a live vaccine or if you have one scheduled.

Why is Cibinqo prescribed?

Inform your healthcare provider if you have any of the following:

  • Being treated for or experiencing symptoms of an infection
  • Blood clots in the legs or lungs
  • Cancer
  • Chronic lung conditions, such as asthma or COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
  • Diabetes
  • Shingles
  • Recurring or persistent infections
  • Hepatitis B or C
  • Stroke
  • HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)
  • Heart conditions, including a history of heart attacks
  • Weakened immune system
  • Cibinqo may impact your alertness or coordination and also could potentially affect your ability to get pregnant.

Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any sudden changes in your vision while using Cibinqo.

Does it have any side effects?

Like all medications, Cibinqo can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them.
      Common side effects may include:
  • Acne
  • Cold sores and other types of herpes simplex infections
  • Increased levels of creatine phosphokinase, as indicated by a blood test
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Stomach pain
  • Low platelet count, as indicated by a blood test
  • Vomiting
    • Serious side effects may include:
  • Blood clots in the lungs, legs, or pelvis, with symptoms such as swelling in the leg, pain, chest pain, or shortness of breath
  • Shingles (herpes zoster), which presents as a painful rash with blisters and fever
  • If you experience any side effects, including those not listed above, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are currently taking, have recently taken, or may take any other medications.

Specifically, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting Cibinqo if you are taking medications below:

  • Fungal infections (e.g., Fluconazole), depression (e.g., Fluoxetine or Fluvoxamine), or stroke (e.g., Ticlopidine), as these may increase Cibinqo's side effects.
  • Heart failure (e.g., Digoxin) or stroke (e.g., Dabigatran), as cibinqo may enhance their effects.
  • Stomach acid reflux (e.g., Famotidine, Antacids, or Omeprazole), as these may lower Cibinqo's levels in your blood.
  • Seizures (e.g., S-mephenytoin), as Cibinqo may amplify its effects.
  • Stroke (e.g., Clopidogrel), as Cibinqo may strengthen its effects.
  • Your doctor may advise you to avoid or stop taking Cibinqo if you're using medications to treat:

  • Tuberculosis (e.g., Rifampin), prostate cancer (e.g., Apalutamide, Enzalutamide), seizures (e.g., Phenytoin)
  • HIV infection (e.g., Efavirenz), as these can reduce the effectiveness of Cibinqo.
  • If any of the above apply to you, or if you're unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Cibinqo.

    How should I store it?

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use this medication after the expiration date printed on the carton and blister foil (EXP). This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.

What action should I take in case of overdose?

In case of an overdose, monitor the signs and symptoms and seek immediate medical attention as needed.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Do not use Cibinqo if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or think you may be pregnant, as it could harm the developing baby. If you become pregnant or suspect you may be pregnant during treatment, inform your doctor immediately.

Cibinqo should not be used while breastfeeding, as it is unknown whether the medication passes into breast milk and affects the baby. You and your doctor should discuss whether to continue breastfeeding or use this medication.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
