Why is Adalat prescribed?

Nifedipine (Adalat) is prescribed for the treatment of hypertension that may cause angina, myocardial infarction and other heart problems.

What does it do?

Nifedipine, a calcium channel blocker (CCB), is an anti-hypertensive agent that primarily works by inhibiting the reuptake of calcium channels in the smooth muscle cell membranes; thus, reducing the workload of the heart and relaxes the blood vessels causing better blood flow.

How should I take it?

Adalat and its generic equivalents are available as 30mg and 60mg tablets. It is intended for oral administration as a whole, not to be crushed or chewed, and should be taken with or without food as directed by the doctor.

The dosage strength depends on every patient’s condition and the doctor’s prescription. It is strictly advised that you do not self-medicate and only take this drug after consulting with your doctor or pharmacist to determine the best dosage and dosing schedule for the treatment of your condition.

What if I missed a dose?

The desired effects of prescribed medications will only be achieved if taken properly. As much as possible, strictly follow your doctor’s prescribed dosing schedule. However, if you miss a dose, take it immediately and adjust the time of your next dose depending on your doctor’s advice. Never take two doses at the same time just to make up for your missed dose.

What are the special precautions before taking Adalat?

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to Nifedipine or any component of Adalat, or any other medications.

Inform your doctor about your past and current medical history especially if you have or have had congestive heart disease, aortic stenosis, low blood pressure, cirrhosis, kidney disease, diabetes and liver disease.

Avoid drinking alcohol as this may cause dizziness or drowsiness and can add to the effects of Nifedipine.

Consult your doctor regarding all the other medications you use before getting surgery.

What action should I take in case of overdose?

If you suspect an overdose, immediately call an ambulance and seek immediate medical attention to prevent further complications.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, Turkey, and Singapore.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
