Why is Savaysa prescribed?

Savaysa (Edoxaban) is a factor Xa inhibitor prescribed to lower the risk of stroke and systemic embolism (SE) in individuals with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF).

What does it do?

Savaysa (Edoxaban) is an anticoagulant (blood thinner) that works by inhibiting an enzyme complex known as factor Xa. This action helps prevent the formation of blood clots, thereby reducing the risk of a heart attack or stroke.

How should I take it?

Take Savaysa exactly as directed by your doctor but usually taken once a day. Your doctor will determine the duration of your treatment. Do not adjust your dose or stop taking Savaysa unless instructed by your doctor. You can take Savaysa with or without food.

What if I missed a dose?

If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but only if it's still the same day. If it's already the next day, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at once.

What are the special precautions before taking Savaysa?

You should not use Savaysa if you are allergic to Edoxaban or have active or uncontrolled bleeding.

Savaysa may cause a serious blood clot around your spinal cord. This type of blood clot can result in long-term paralysis and may be more likely if you:

  • Have a genetic spinal defect
  • Have a spinal catheter in place
  • Have a history of spinal surgery or multiple spinal taps
  • Recently had a spinal tap or epidural anesthesia
  • Are taking an NSAID
  • Are using other medications to treat or prevent blood clots
  • Savaysa may increase your risk of bleeding, especially if you have:
  • An inherited or disease-related bleeding disorder
  • A history of hemorrhagic stroke
  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure
  • Stomach or intestinal bleeding or ulcers
  • If you take certain medications like antidepressants
  • Savaysa may increase your risk of bleeding, especially if you have:
  • An artificial heart valve
  • Bleeding problems
  • Liver or kidney disease
  • Does it have any side effects?

Seek emergency medical help if you experience signs of an allergic reaction to Savaysa. Also, get immediate medical attention if you notice symptoms of loss of bladder or bowel control, spinal blood clot, including back pain, numbness or muscle weakness in your lower body.
      Common side effects may include:
  • Bleeding
  • Low red blood cell count (anemia)
  • Savaysa can increase your risk of bleeding. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any signs of bleeding, such as:
  • Bleeding from wounds or needle injections that won’t stop
  • Bloody or tarry stools, coughing up blood, or vomiting that looks like coffee grounds
  • Urine that appears pink, red, or brown
  • Headaches, weakness, dizziness, or feeling faint
  • Pain, swelling, or drainage from a wound or injection site
  • Easy bruising or bleeding (nosebleeds, menstrual bleeding)
  • Bloody or tarry stools, coughing up blood
  • This is not a complete list of side effects, and others that may occur. Contact your doctor for medical advice regarding side effects.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

Inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, particularly:
  • Any other medications used to treat or prevent blood clots
  • Blood thinners like heparin or warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven)
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
  • Antidepressants like (Citalopram,Fluoxetine,Sertraline,Duloxetine)
  • Rifampin
  • Thrombolytics
  • This list is not exhaustive, and many other drugs, not all potential drug interactions are included here, best to consult your doctor before taking this medication.

    How should I store it?

Store at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep out of reach of children.

What action should I take in case of overdose?

If you take too much Savaysa it may increase the risk of bleeding, go to the nearest hospital emergency room or contact your doctor immediately.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

It is unknown whether Savaysa can harm your unborn baby. If you become pregnant while taking Savaysa, contact your doctor immediately. It is also unclear if Savaysa is present in breast milk. You and your doctor should decide whether to continue taking Savaysa or breastfeeding. Do not breastfeed while using Savaysa.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
