Why is Travatan Z prescribed?

Travatan Z (Travoprost ophthalmic solution) is used to lower elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in individuals with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

What does it do?

Travoprost lowers high eye pressure in glaucoma or ocular hypertension by increasing fluid drainage, helping prevent optic nerve damage and vision loss. Note that it contains different a preservative, called SofZia against Travatan that contains benzalkonium chloride.

How should I take it?

Use Travoprost exactly as prescribed, typically one drop in the affected eye each evening unless your doctor advises otherwise. Do not wear contact lenses during application, and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in, as the preservative may discolor them.

What if I missed a dose?

If you miss a dose of Travatan Z, skip it and apply the next dose at your regular scheduled time. Do not use extra drops to make up for the missed dose.

What are the special precautions before taking Travatan Z?

If you are allergic to Travoprost, do not use this medication. Before using this medication, inform your doctor if you have a history of:

  • Eye swelling or infections
  • Retinal detachment
  • Eye surgery or injuries that affected the lens

Travoprost ophthalmic may cause gradual changes in the appearance of your eyes, such as darkening of the iris, eyelids, or eyelashes, and increased eyelash growth or thickness. These changes develop slowly over time—sometimes over months or years—and may be permanent, even after treatment stops. They typically affect only the treated eye, which can result in differences in eye or eyelash color between eyes.

Travoprost ophthalmic is not approved for use in individuals under 16 years of age.

Does it have any side effects?

It is important to note that all drugs have corresponding side effects and adverse reactions. Additional information may be obtained when you ask your doctor or pharmacist.

    Common side effects may include:
  • Blurred vision
  • Swollen or puffy eyelids
  • Redness or itching

  • Changes in your vision

  • Severe burning or irritation after applying the drops
  • Significant discomfort, eye swelling, crusting, or discharge (these could indicate an eye infection)
This is not a full list of possible side effects. Other reactions may occur. For medical advice about any side effects, contact your doctor.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

Travoprost should be stored either in the refrigerator or at room temperature, within a range of 36°F to 77°F (2°C to 25°C).

What action should I take in case of overdose?

An overdose of Travoprost eye drops is unlikely to cause harm. However, if the medication is accidentally swallowed, seek emergency medical attention right away.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
