Why is Vosevi prescribed?

Vosevi is prescribed for adults with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, with or without compensated cirrhosis (Child-Pugh A), particularly when previous treatments have failed. It is indicated for patients who have been treated with an HCV regimen containing an NS5A inhibitor across genotypes 1 through 6, or with sofosbuvir without an NS5A inhibitor in genotypes 1a or 3.

What does it do?

Vosevi is a direct-acting antiviral that combines three agents:

  • Sofosbuvir: Inhibits NS5B RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, blocking viral replication.
  • Velpatasvir: Inhibits NS5A protein, disrupting viral RNA replication and assembly.
  • Voxilaprevir: Inhibits NS3/4A protease, preventing viral polyprotein processing.
Together, they target multiple steps in the HCV life cycle, making the regimen highly effective across all genotypes.

How should I take it?

Always follow your doctor’s instructions, or the directions on the product label when taking this medication. Vosevi should be taken as one tablet once daily with food, swallowed whole without crushing or chewing. To maintain consistent drug levels in your body, it's important to take it at the same time each day. Be sure to follow your doctor’s instructions carefully and complete the full 12-week course of treatment.

What if I missed a dose?

If you miss a dose of Vosevi and it's within 18 hours of your usual time, take the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if more than 18 hours have passed, skip the missed dose and take the next one at your regular scheduled time. Never take two doses to make up for a missed one.

What are the special precautions before taking Vosevi?

Inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, your current and previous medical history.

  • Do not take Vosevi if you're allergic to Sofosbuvir, Velpatasvir, Voxilaprevir, or any of the ingredients in the medication.
  • Disclose all your current or past medical conditions to your doctor, particularly if you have:
    • Liver problems other than hepatitis C
    • Kidney disease or are on dialysis
    • Diabetes
    • Taking blood thinners
  • Avoid use if you have moderate to severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh B or C).
  • Avoid sharing Vosevi with others even if their condition appears similar, as doing so may result in unexpected health risks or dangerous side effects.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Your doctor can help you weigh the potential benefits and risks for both you and your baby.

Does it have any side effects?

It is important to note that all drugs have corresponding side effects and adverse reactions. Additional information may be obtained when you ask your doctor or pharmacist.
    Common side effects may include:
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Insomnia
    Serious side effects may include:
  • Hepatitis B reactivation
  • Severe liver damage in cirrhotic patients
  • Bradycardia
  • Difficulty breathing)
  • Slurred speech or tremors
This is not a complete list of potential side effects, and additional reactions may occur. For detailed information and medical guidance, consult your healthcare provider.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

Vosevi (Sofosbuvir/Velpatasvir/Voxilaprevir) has the potential to interact with a wide range of medications, which can either heighten the risk of side effects or diminish its therapeutic effectiveness.

Before taking Vosevi, consult your doctor if you are using any of the following medications:

  • Antacids
  • St. John's wort
  • Carbamazepine
  • Rifampin
  • Rosuvastatin
  • Digoxin
This is not a full list of possible drug interactions. To ensure your safety, it's essential to speak with your doctor or pharmacist before taking Vosevi alongside other medications, including over-the-counter drugs or supplements.

How should I store it?

Vosevi should be kept in its original container and stored at room temperature, ideally between 20°C and 25°C (68°F to 77°F), to maintain its effectiveness. Be sure to protect it from excess heat, moisture, and light, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.

What action should I take in case of overdose?

In case of a Vosevi (Sofosbuvir/Velpatasvir/Voxilaprevir) overdose, you should seek immediate medical attention by contacting your local emergency services or going to the nearest hospital. Overdose symptoms may include severe fatigue, nausea, vomiting, confusion, slowed heart rate, and signs of liver distress such as yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, and upper abdominal pain.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Vosevi is not proven safe in humans, so it should only be used in pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks. For breastfeeding, the drug’s components may pass into breast milk, though in very low amounts, and the effects on nursing infants are unknown. Therefore, use during breastfeeding is not generally recommended, especially if combined with ribavirin, which poses additional risks.

If you're pregnant, considering pregnancy, or currently breastfeeding, it's important to speak with your healthcare provider to ensure that using this medication is safe for both you and your child.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
