Why is Ziana prescribed?

Ziana (Clindamycin Phosphate / Tretinoin) is a combination medication that includes an antibiotic and a form of vitamin A, used to treat severe nodular acne in adults and children aged 12 and older.

What does it do?

Topical Tretinoin/Clindamycin, applied directly to the affected skin, contains two active ingredients: Tretinoin and Clindamycin. Tretinoin helps clear acne by accelerating the shedding of dead skin cells and preventing clogged pores, while Clindamycin inhibits the growth of bacteria that cause acne.

How should I take it?

Apply a pea-sized amount of Ziana to your entire face every night at bedtime. Avoid washing your face more than three times a day, as excessive washing or scrubbing can worsen acne. Use Ziana for the full prescribed duration, even if you don’t see immediate improvement. Contact your doctor if you experience severe skin irritation or if your acne doesn’t improve after several weeks of use.

What if I missed a dose?

If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it's nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and apply only the scheduled one. Do not double dose.

What are the special precautions before taking Ziana?

Although Ziana is applied topically, your body may absorb enough Clindamycin to impact certain medical conditions.

You should not use this medication if you have:

  • Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis
  • Inflammation of the intestines (enteritis)
  • A history of severe diarrhea caused by antibiotic use

Avoid using Ziana if you are also taking the antibiotic Erythromycin or using other skin treatments containing erythromycin.

To ensure Ziana is safe for you, inform your doctor if you have:
  • Any allergies, or
  • A history of stomach or intestinal issues.
Always inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, your current and previous medical history.

Does it have any side effects?

It is important to note that all drugs have corresponding side effects and adverse reactions. Additional information may be obtained when you ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Stop using Ziana and contact your doctor immediately if you experience:

  • Watery or bloody diarrhea.
  • Stinging, severe redness, burning, or peeling of the treated skin areas
    Common side effects may include:
  • Mild skin redness; or
  • Itching at the treated area.
  • Mild skin irritation or peeling;
This is not a complete list of side effects, and others may occur. Consult your doctor for advice on any side effects.

Is it safe to take it with another drug?

Some drug interactions may cause serious or life-threatening reactions when administered together. Immediately inform your doctor if you are taking Ziana with any of the following medications:

  • Erythromycin
  • Muscle relaxants used during surgery
  • Other skin products containing alcohol, spices, astringents, or lime
This is not a comprehensive list of potential interactions. Be sure to inform your doctor of all medications.

How should I store it?

Store at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and light. Do not freeze.

What action should I take in case of overdose?

If you suspect you have used too much Ziana, seek immediate help by contacting emergency services.

Is it safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

Pregnancy: The effects of topical Tretinoin/Clindamycin on pregnancy or an unborn baby are not known. If you are planning to become pregnant or pregnant, inform your doctor. They will guide you on whether to use this medication during pregnancy or while trying to conceive.

Breastfeeding: It is unclear if topical Tretinoin/Clindamycin passes into breast milk. Let doctor know if you are breastfeeding or planning to do so. They will advise you on whether to continue breastfeeding or discontinue the medication.

Canadian Prescription Drug Store dispenses medications from our fully licensed and independently verified pharmacy partners around the world from Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Mauritius.

Legal disclaimer: The FDA, due to the current state of their regulations, has taken the position that virtually all shipments of prescription drugs imported from a Canadian online pharmacy by a U.S. consumer will violate the law. However, many legal experts disagree with the FDA's position in this regard stating that such importation is permitted under certain federal and state laws. Several State governments and consumer rights groups actively promote the importation of medications. The FDA itself provides the public information on how to import medications safely. Furthermore, there is no record of any US individual being prosecuted by the FDA for importing non-controlled prescription drugs for their personal use.
